DMCA & Takedown Policy

Last Updated: August 16, 2025

Here at Otakuversity, we take intellectual property rights very seriously. Our entire mission is built on creating original analysis and respecting the incredible work of the anime studios, creators, and artists we study. We don’t steal stuff. Period.

This page outlines the official procedure for copyright owners to request the removal of any content that they believe infringes upon their rights. We are committed to complying with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

1. How to File a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you are a copyright owner or an agent thereof and believe that any content on our Site infringes upon your copyrights, you may submit a notification pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) by providing our Copyright Agent with the following information in writing (see 17 U.S.C 512(c)(3) for further detail).

Your email must include all of the following points:

  1. Your Signature: A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright.
  2. Identification of the Work: A clear description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If it’s multiple works, a representative list is fine.
  3. Location of the Infringing Material: The specific URL(s) on Otakuversity where the infringing material is located. We need the direct link to find and remove it.
  4. Your Contact Information: Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A Statement of Good Faith: A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A Statement of Accuracy: A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

2. Where to Send Your Notice

Please compile all of the information listed above into a single email and send it to our designated Copyright Agent.

Email: [email protected]

Please note that incomplete notices or inquiries that do not follow this format may not receive a response.

3. What Happens Next?

Once we receive a complete and valid DMCA notice, our process is straightforward:

  1. We will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material.
  2. We will notify the user who posted the content (if applicable) that we have removed it.
  3. We will handle any counter-notices in accordance with DMCA procedures.

We take these matters seriously and will act quickly to protect the rights of creators.

If you have any questions, please contact us at the email provided above.
